Hospital Returns, 1827, Collection of SARA

The hospital was specifically developed to serve the needs of the female factory women, however, after it opened to both factory women and free women.  At least 30 categories of illness were listed in the returns of the hospital.

The majority of the staff consisted of well behaved factory women.

There was a visiting Doctor who checked the women daily with checks once a week for specific illnesses.

Some common ailments were fever, pneumonia, dysentery, cholera, convulsions and asthma.
